About the artist
Louise Buma is a Western Australian painter who specialises in landscape and still life acrylics. With a style rooted in impressionism, Lou enjoys observing and exploring the effects of light on her subject matter and taking the use of colour to the edge of realism. Her works are a playful, juxtaposition of detailed line work and loose expressionist strokes and are often accompanied by her own poetry.
Lou returned to WA with her husband and four children after 11 years in Victoria in late 2020. It is the re-discovered coastal landscape of their new home in the Shoalwater Bay area, that has inspired her recent and continuing body of work.
Lou is a qualified teacher and loves teaching others to embrace their creative selves through painting.
